Sandra Esslinger
Vice-President of Annual Meetings & Conferences
Sandra Esslinger received her PhD from UCLA, where she studied Critical Theory and Modern Art History with Donald Preziosi. Her research focuses on the official art of Nazi Germany emphasizing how national and cultural identities were formed in order to advance their political agenda. She has been interested in the issues that surround how art, as was presented by the National Socialists of the German Third Reich, molded the German peoples into an ideal, univocal community, the Volk, the “ideal citizens.” She has published and presented on both the artwork and the museum as Nazi propaganda. In addition to continuing her research, her focus as a Professor at Mt. San Antonio College has been to actively foster the recognition of Art History as a discipline at the Community College level and the recognition of the Community College as an institution of higher education at CAA.
