FALL 2004 AND ONGOING: Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut California is looking for part-time instructors for the Fall and in the future. It is located off of the 10 freeway about 40 min. drive from UCLA. The exit is Grand Avenue in Covina. We have developed a broad curriculum--Asian, African, Women and Gender, Precolumbian, Modern, in addition to the two part surveys. There will be the possibility to teach a broad range of courses, however, in the immediate future we are looking for someone to teach Arta1 Understanding the Visual Arts which is an introduction to visual culture and has been referred to as Art Appreciation in the past. The class is currently scheduled from 9:30am-12:30pm on Fridays. We also have a Tuesday and Thursday schedule for two classes Arta 9 Asian Art scheduled from 11:00am-12:30 pm and Arta 1 from 2:00-3:30pm. We would prefer to give one person the two classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but would be willing to separate the classes if so desired. There is potential for growth in this position and since I was a part time instructor at Mt. SAC before I was hired in a tenure track position, I can honestly say this was a great place to work as a part time instructor. We will need regular part-time instructors and will be willing to work around your schedule for the spring and future terms. If the above classes do not work with your schedule, but you are interested in teaching for us in the future, please submit an application and email me with your resume if you are interested. If you wish to teach in the Fall, please submit an application as well and email me with your interest and resume. The application can be found at http://jobs.mtsac.edu/faculty_application.pdf. Mail one copy to Mt. San Antonio College, Human Resources and the other Attention: Sandra Esslinger, Professor, Art History, Department of History, Political Science and Geography, 1100 North Grand Avenue, Walnut, CA 91789-1399. The minimum qualification to teach at Mt. SAC is an MA in Art History and we would prefer some teaching experience.
